For Rebecca Bloomwood, life is peachy. She has a job on morning TV, her bank manager is actually being nice to her, and when it comes to spending money, her new motto is Buy Only What You Need - and she's really (sort of) sticking to it. The icing on the brioche is that she's been offered a chance to work in New York. New York! The Museum of Modern Art! The Guggenheim! The Metropolitan Opera House! And Becky does mean to go to them all. Honestly. It's just that it seems silly not to check out a few other famous places first. Like Saks. And Bloomingdales. And Barneys. And one of those fantastic sample sales where you can get a Prada dress for $10. Or was it $100? Is Becky too dazzled to care? Everybody loves Sophie Kinsella: "I almost cried with laughter" Daily Mail "Hilarious . . . you'll laugh and gasp on every page" Jenny Colgan "Properly mood-altering . . . funny, fast and farcical. I loved it" Jojo Moyes "A superb tale. Five stars!" Heat
A Chambermaid s Diary
First published in 1900, “The Diary of a Chambermaid” is a decadent novel written by Octave Mirbeau. It was originally published as a serial between from 1891–2, and was later reworked and polished into a novel. It is presented as the diary of a chambermaid called Mademoiselle Célestine R. whose professional life is continually disrupted and diverted by the desires of her various employers. Octave Mirbeau (1848 – 1917) was a French playwright, travel writer, journalist, pamphleteer, art critic, and novelist whose work has been translated into thirty languages. Mirbeau became famous in Europe and enjoyed immense popularity, while simultaneously remaining appealing to the literary and artistic avant-garde. Other notable works by this author include: “Sébastien Roch” (1890), “Dans le ciel” (1893–1989), and “Le Jardin des supplices” (1899). Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in a modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially commissioned new introduction on the history of erotic literature.
The Vampire Countess
In vita mors, in morte vita! In life, death; in death, life! The particular gift of Countess Addhema was to be reborn beautiful and young every time she could apply to the hideous bareness of her skull a living head of hair, a scalp, torn from the head of a living victim. This was why her tomb was full of the skulls of young women... Ren? recoiled in horror at the sight of his mistress restored to her real condition: the cadaver of an old woman, fleshless, cold, totally bald and already turning to dust... "After 1856, it would be a long time before any other writer contrived a vampire as perversely charismatic as Addhema; she is really three vampires in one. She is, first and foremost, the vampire-as-libido-run-wild, but she is certainly the vampire-as-gold-digger too, and she may well have something of the vampire-as-muse to complete her mystique."-Brian Stableford. Paul F?val (1816-1887) was the author of numerous popular swashbuckling novels and one of the fathers of the modern crime thriller. Brian Stableford has published more than fifty novels and two hundred short stories. The Vampire Countess was written in 1855-forty years before Bram Stoker's Dracula-and is one of three classic vampire stories also available from Black Coat Press.
This is Fromentin's masterpiece which first appeared in 1862. The freshness of its landscapes alone is enchanting, but it is most remarkable as a sober analysis of delirious passion. While still at school Dominique de Bray falls in love with Madeleine d'Orsel, who is a few years older than him. She discovers that he loves her only after her marriage, and elects to cure him. Their moral distress rises to a climax when she falls in love herself. The book offers a vision of chastity and pain which hints at the dark side of life, suggesting that there are other ends to existence besides mere happiness.

Collected Poems and Other Verse
Stéphane Mallarmé was the most radically innovative of nineteenth-century poets. This is the fullest collection of Mallarmé's poetry ever published in English, and the only edition in any language that presents his Poésies in the last arrangement known to have been approved by the author. It includes all the prose poems and the unique, unclassifiable Un Coup de dés... (A Dice Throw...)
Sol is a gifted but also terrifying six year old; his mother believes he is destined for greatness. He has a birthmark, like his dad, his grandmother and great-grandmother. But when they all make an unexpected trip to Germany, terrible secrets emerge about their family’s story during World War II. Perhaps birthmarks are not all that has been passed down through this family. With its domestic focus but epic scope, Fault Lines is a compelling, touching often funny novel about four generations of children and their parents. From California to New York, from Haifa to Toronto and Munich, the secrets unwind back through time, the present haunted by the past, until we reach the devastating truth. Nancy Huston tells a riveting, vigorous tale, in which love, music and faith rage against the shape of evil.
The Crightons have everything money can buy--position, power, and elegance--but secrets and betrayal could destroy this "perfect" family. These three full-length stories follow the turbulent lives of the Crightons through scandal, heartache, and unanticipated passion.
