This wise and informative guide applies Stanley Greenspan's much admired developmental approach to a very common disorder. In his distinctive and original view, ADHD is not a single problem, but rather a set of common symptoms that arise from several different sensory, motor, and self-regulation problems. As in his highly successful earlier books and in his practice, Greenspan emphasizes the role of emotion, seeking the root of the condition and rebuilding the foundations of healthy development. Overcoming ADHD steers away from the pitfalls of labeling, or of simply stamping out symptoms with medication, and demonstrates Greenspan's abiding belief in the growth and individual potential of each child.

Psychology and the Internet
The previous edition provided the first resource for examining how the Internet affects our definition of who we are and our communication and work patterns. It examined how normal behavior differs from the pathological with respect to Internet use. Coverage includes how the internet is used in our social patterns: work, dating, meeting people of similar interests, how we use it to conduct business, how the Internet is used for learning, children and the Internet, what our internet use says about ourselves, and the philosophical ramifications of internet use on our definitions of reality and consciousness. Since its publication in 1998, a slew of other books on the topic have emerged, many speaking solely to internet addiction, learning on the web, or telehealth. There are few competitors that discuss the breadth of impact the internet has had on intrpersonal, interpersonal, and transpersonal psychology. Provides the first resource for looking at how the Internet affects our definition of who we are Examines the philosophical ramifications of Internet use and our definitions of self, reality, and work Explores how the Internet is used to meet new friends and love interests, as well as to conduct business Discusses what represents normal behavior with respect to Internet use

The Unwritten Laws of Business
This hidden gem was first published 60 years ago but was known only to a lucky few until it resurfaced in 2005 - when 300,000 requests were made for a CEO's personalised version. In the summer of 2005, Business 2.0 published a cover story on a self-published management pamphlet by the CEO of American aerospace contractor Raytheon. Lauded by chief executives including Jack Welch and Warren Buffett ('one of the best books I've seen') it became a phenomenon, and more than 300,000 people wrote in to ask for a copy. But much of the pamphlet drew on a book from 1944 - which Profile reissued, updated as The Unwritten Laws of Business in 2007. Filled with sage advice and written in a clear, engaging style, it offers insights on relating to colleagues and outsiders, the laws of character and personality, personal development, and much, much more - all of which has stood the test of time. Refreshingly free of the latest business jargon, The Unwritten Laws of Business is wise, ethical and insightful, capturing and distilling the timeless truths and principles that underlie management and business the world over.
Phronesis as Professional Knowledge
Phronesis is the Aristotelian notion of practical wisdom. In this collected series, phronesis is explored as an alternate way of considering professional knowledge. In the present context dominated by technical rationalities and instrumentalist approaches, a re-examination of the concept of phronesis offers a fundamental re-visioning of the educational aims in professional schools and continuing professional education programs. This book originated from a conversation amongst an interdisciplinary group of scholars from education, health, philosophy, and sociology, who share concerns that something of fundamental importance – of moral signi?cance – is missing from the vision of what it means to be a professional. The contributors consider the ways in which phronesis offers a generative possibility for reconsidering the professional knowledge of practitioners. The question at the centre of this inquiry is: “If we take phronesis seriously as an organising framework for professional knowledge, what are the implications for professional education and practice?” A multiplicity of understandings emerge as to what is meant by phronesis and how it might be reinterpreted, understood, applied, and extended in a world radically different to that of the progenitor of the term, Aristotle. For those concerned with professional life this is a conversation not to be missed.
